TOURISM IN POINTE A PITRE is rather confidential , because other sites on the island are being more popular .

Yet, the city has many advantages and major attractions, La place de la victoire (victory square) and the cathedral, the shopping streets of the city center so busy during the week, markets, stalls of merchands and artisans ...

The city ranked art and history, organizes tours around themes of heritage.

The restaurants offer a varied enough gastronomy like Creole , Chinese , Indian, dominican ..

We must also reckon with unavoidable events (Day of the cookers, carnival, various cultural events , exhibitions)

There is a very little few hotels in Pointe à Pitre , as the accommodation is generally on the "Riviera" (Gosier , Sainte- Anne , Saint -Francois) or in the Northern Basse-terre ( Saint-Rose , Deshaies) .

The city of Pointe-à-Pitre is served by no less than ten airlines in the Caribbean-Pole Airport in the nearby town of les Abymes .

These companies are: Air Caraibes , Air France , Air Antilles Express , Corsair , XL Airways , WestJet , Liat , Air Italy , American Airlines, Air Canada ;

With flights from :

The Caribbean (Fort-de-France, Saint-Martin, Saint-Barthélemy, Cayenne, Port-au-Prince, Les Saintes, Marie-Galante, Jamaica, Cuba, Santo Domingo, Barbados, Dominica, St. Lucia, Antigua, Anguilla, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Kitts, St. Vincent, Tortola)

Northern America (Miami, Montreal)

Europe (Nantes, Brest, Paris, Portugal, Spain, Greece, Italy)

Africa (Cape Verde, Egypt, Israel, Tunisia, Morocco, Kenya, Madagascar, Tanzania)

Without saying that all these air hub can help integrate Pointe-à-Pitre in a larger network based on matching companies and served airports .

Regarding the large cruise operators in Guadeloupe like Costa and Seaborne for a season of four months between December and March. But there are also a plethora of mini catamaran cruises in the archipelago and neighboring islands . Express des îles made the connection to Terre-de-Haut (Les Saintes) , Roseau (Dominica) , Fort -de- France (Martinique) , Castries (St. Lucia), the ships Jeans connect Marie-Galante, other shuttles are linking to Les Saintes and Désirade.

    Change the memory card often so you can tuck away the one that you used so that if you happen to lose your camera, you will not lose the photos as well.
